NEW DELHI: The go nment on Tuesday announced to recruit 10 lakh people in different Central go nment departments and ministries in the next 18 months on a “mission mode”, a deadline that ends barely 4-5 months before the Narendra Modi go nment again seeks mandate from people to come to power.

新德里：印度中央政府周二宣布，將在未來18個月內以“使命模式”在中央政府不同部門招募100萬人，在莫迪政府再次尋求連任前的4-5個月完成。

“PM Narendra Modi reviewed the status of Human Resources in all departments and ministries and instructed that recruitment of 10 lakh people be done by the Go nment in mission mode in the next 1.5 years,” the Prime Minister’s Office tweeted.

總理辦公室在推特上寫道：“莫迪總理審查了所有部門的人力資源狀況，指示在未來1.5年內，100萬人的招聘工作將由政府在“使命模式”下完成。”

TOI on April 3 had first reported about the PM’s focus on filling up vacancies quickly and to start the process within months. Following this, every department and ministry had prepared a list of vacancies ag inst the sanctioned posts.

At a marathon 4-hour-long meeting with all the Central go nment secretaries in April, the PM had talked about the recruitment drive. Modi’s direction to expedite the filling of vacancies gains importance in the light of the opposition trying to turn “vacancies” and unemployment in general in the recently held assembly ions, particularly in Uttar Pradesh.

Sources said a good chunk of the vacancies are in railways.

In response to a question in Rajya Sabha in July last year, Minister of State for Personnel Jitendra Singh had said that there were around 8.72 lakh vacant posts in different central go nment departments as on March 1, 2020.

This is only about making sure the unemployment topic gets handled before 2024. And dont even want to think about what work they will actually do. Where employemnt should actually increase is in police forces especially traffic, go nment hospitals, go nment schools, any agency whoch will actually make a difference yo people’s lives.
