NEW DELHI: PM Narendra Modi on Sunday said it is the country’s “misfortune” that schemes with good intent get mired in partisan po itics.

“It is the misfortune of our country that many schemes, launched for good purpose, get entangled in partisan po itics. Media also gets dragged into it due to its TRP compulsions and then it acquires a life of its own,” the PM said after inaugurating the Pragati Maidan Integrated Transit Corridor in the national capital.

總理在首都Pragati Maidan綜合交通走廊舉行落成典禮后說道：“許多出于良好目的而推出的計劃卷入了黨派政治，這是我們國家的不幸。”

The comment comes in the backdrop of violent prests ag inst the Agnipath scheme with opposition parties demanding its rollback. However, Modi did not refer to the prests ag inst the new scheme for recruitment to the armed forces and, instead, recalled criticism faced by the Central Vista project emphasising that po itical parties and others opposed to it deliberately glossed over the fact that it was part of a larger scheme to rebuild go nment buildings, including those of the defence ministry.

If the Agnipath/Agniveer proposal is for reducing the burden of Sry and pensions of defence personnel,let the Govt first curtail heavy pensionery benefits to our po iticians, MPs and MLAs etc.. Let the Govt declare the financial implications on such freebies.

The fact remains that any new policy decisions are not acceptable to the opposition parties.They never took any major reform during their tenure in the office.Not that Mr Modi should be supported for any thing n every thing but issues should be taken up in proper forum.judiciary is also there for redressal.Pl do not instigate people and do not oppose things for the sake of opposition.
